The Club at Mediterra is a 36 hole Tom Fazio design. Both courses were completed in one year. The South course opened January 2001 and the North course in January 2002. This property as developed by the Bonita Bay Group, Southwest Florida's second biggest golf course community developer. A unique aspect of this facility is that is Audubon Signature Silver Certified. This is a process that was started before construction. This limits the chemicals that can be applied to the facility. This was a very positive learning experience. All aspects of golf course operations were covered. Both cultural practices and management practices were covered while interning at the facility. Bi-weekly meetings with the Director of Golf Course Operations supplied an in depth look at all aspects of course management. I highly recommend at least two internship experiences to the serious turfgrass student.
