Experience: |
It was a wonderful summer near Vail, Colorado working
at Eagle Springs
Golf Club. The course is set along the Eagle River Valley
amongst the Rocky Mountains. This upscale course caters to approximately
three hundred members who enjoy this luxurious course for the summer
season. My
learning experience entailed a bunker depth project, adding
irrigation, and drainage work along with everyday tasks. A typical day
would begin at 5:45 am to move all equipment that would be used outside of
cold storage. At
6:00 the rest of the crew goes to work and my first job
would be to do course setup for the front of back nine. Occasionally I
would mow fairways or approaches in the morning just to mix up the job
tasks amongst a few other crew members. My second job of the day would
usually entail hand watering, herbicide spraying, or a specific project.
My most enjoyable project was installing the new irrigation. I knew
nothing about irrigation prior to the
summer but after the work experience
I liked learning more about it. The summer internship was a valuable
experience allowing me to work on a golf course in a different
environment. The weather was wonderful and so everyone involved in
maintaining the course. |
