    The 2005 Clemson University Turfgrass Field Day will be held from 8:00 am to noon on September 13th at the Pee Dee Research & Education Center in Florence, SC.  The field day will be followed by lunch and then at 1:30 pm by the Charles P. Willimon, Sr. Golf Tournament at Florence Country Club.

Sponsorship Opportunities

      Proceeds from the golf tournament support turfgrass research and education programs at Clemson University.  Tee sponsorships are available at $800, $600, $500 and $250 levels.  The $800 and $600 levels include a four-man team for golf.  The $500 and $250 levels are for tees' signs only.  Contact Sam Cheatham at the SC Turfgrass Foundation for a sponsor registration form:

Also please consider providing prizes for the closest to the pin holes, or sponsoring lunch!

Field Day Topics

     Topics highlighted  at the field day will include:  nitrogen and iron fertilization of centipedegrass; new cultivars of zoysiagrass, bermudagrass, St. Augustinegrass, and bentgrass; choosing the best lawn grass; fire ant control; disease management of ultradwarf bermudagrasses; disease control programs for bentgrass; wetting agent evaluations; turfgrass weed identification and control; and rapid blight of cool-season grasses.  Pesticide recertification credits and GCSAA Education points will be available.
