Iron - Group IA - Coarse Octahedrite

Meteorite fragments were first found at the site in 1922. They are associated with one large crater (about 30 meters deep) and four smaller craters. The impact probably took place between 50,000 and 100,000 years ago. Scientists date solidification of the meteorite as occuring 4.5 billion years ago. Our polished specimen weights 116 grams.
