Creating your own home museum is really simpler than you may think. Follow these simple instructions and you will soon have your own museum that will make your parents and friends proud.

Start your own collection by picking up rocks in your backyard and in your travels. |

Be sure to label your rocks with a name, a specimen number, the date, and where you found it. |

Use a rock and mineral field guide to find identifications. |
* |
Keep rocks and labels in a case or an area where they won't get dirty. |
* |
Bring specimens to the BCGM if you need help identifying them. |
* |
Remember NOT to collect ANYTHING from a state or national park! |
