Satisfactory Academic
Progress Policy: In order to continue to receive federal, state
and institutional financial aid, minimum requirements must be met
annually.
Appeals Process: Students
who feel they have received an unsatisfactory response to a financial
aid request may appeal. The first step of the appeals process is
to write the Financial Aid Appeals Committee. The letter must define
the situation and request a change. It should be noted that the
Federal Pell Grant is an entitlement program, and Clemson University
has virtually no voice in the award determination. Scholarships
are awarded to those students determined to be the most qualified
by the University Scholarships and Awards Committee based on information
available at the time of selection.
If the response to an appeal
is unacceptable, a second step in the appeals process may be initiated.
For academic scholarships, the chairman of the University Scholarships
and Awards Committee must be contacted in writing for a final decision
regarding the appeal. Appeals for all other forms of financial aid
may be presented in writing to the Financial Aid and Placement Committee,
which will make the final decision.
