The Office of Residency Classification assists graduate and continuing undergraduate students with application for entitlement to pay in-state rates on tuition and fees. Entering freshmen should contact the Admissions Office regarding residency status.
Application for Resident Status--Any student or prospective student, whose status concerning entitlement to payment of in-state tuition and fees is uncertain, has the responsibility of securing a ruling from the University. The process requires students and their families to provide all relevant information on special application forms. Additionally, documentation supporting the information provided in response to the questionnaire is routinely required.
Undergraduate students must submit
a complete application (located in the left side bar). A complete
application consists of a Student Form and a Parental/Spouse/Guardian
Form, as well as supporting documentation. These forms may
printed from this web site or can be obtained from the Office
of Residency Classification located in G01 Sikes Hall - (864)
656-2280. Applications must be submitted at least two (2) weeks
prior to registration in order to receive a ruling prior to the
due date of tuition and fees. Applications will be accepted until
the day prior to the first day of classes for the term you are seeking
in-state status; however, you must pay the full out-of-state bill.
If your residence status is changed, you will receive a refund of
any tuition that is overpaid.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed
