This and subsequent journals is/are worth 3 points; you get two points by turning in 500 words on time and on-topic.  To get a three you have to wow me with: 1) insight 2) length 3) connections between readings.  3x 8-24 +1= 25.

Ideas for Journal entries: take a chart or schema and apply it to some SF work we are reading, or a movie, or another SF work.  (EX: Use the Outline of Characteristics in Utiopias tiotalk about Herland); look at study guide on novel and answer questions that we did not cover in class or that are more broad and pilosophical; take some theme that has been running throught the course (aliens, Others, gender, attitude towards science, social criticism) and discuss it in light of the stories and novels for that unit.
