Plant diseases, insect
pests and weeds can significantly reduce plant growth and development.
Household insects can infest our food and cause structural damage to our
homes. The Clemson University Plant Problem Clinic is a multidisciplinary
program which strives to address these problems by providing identification
of plant problems, insects, and plants. The Plant Problem Clinic also helps
detect and document new plant problems in South Carolina and serves as an
information resource for extension and research personnel.
The Plant Problem Clinic
submission forms are designed to provide the information necessary for the
Clinic and its cooperators to provide a complete, accurate and timely
diagnosis or identification with appropriate management recommendations. The
Submission Guidelines provide detailed information on collecting, packaging,
and mailing samples to the Clinic.
All Plant Problem Clinic
replies are sent by electronic mail (E-mail) to the Extension office in the
county where the sample originated. This policy helps to make agents more
aware of problems occurring in their county, and enhances agent education.
When agents are working closely with a client, the agent can download the
report and add additional comments and specific management recommendations
applicable to that county and client.
Clients with email
can receive these reports directly or, if requested, the report can be
mailed from the Clinic.
