Alpha Delta Pi holds the distinction of being the first secret society in the world for college women and is regarded as the “First and Finest.” Founded May 15, 1851, in Macon, Georgia, ADPi is the mother of today’s sorority system. Originally known as the “Adelphean Society” due to the Greek meaning of “adelphean” which means sister, ADPi has maintained high standards for membership over the years. Scholarship, leadership, service and sisterhood are some of the main principles that members of Alpha Delta Pi strive to uphold.
Today there are over 182,500 initiated members of the sorority worldwide and more than 130 collegiate chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
The Zeta Nu chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was founded at Clemson University on September 18, 1976. In the last twenty eight years, the chapter has grown from 34 members to approximately 193 members with sisters from all over the country.
