CLEMSON -- Tiger Band, "The Band that Shakes the Southland," has released Volume 1 of a 3 DVD set of pre-game and half-time performances of Tiger Band. This DVD covers 1959 to 1979.
Volume One captures the excitement of Tiger Band's train trip to the 1959 Bluebonnet Bowl, and continues with performances by the Band through 1979. From military grey caped uniforms, Tiger Band marches through the 60's and 70's with two other uniform changes, and a variety of changes in twirlers and Color Guard/Flag Corps.
Especially interesting is the emergence of "Sock it to 'Em" as a Tiger Band staple, and also an interesting but short-lived melodic version of Tiger Rag. Future volumes will include performances in the 1980's and 1990's.
Tiger Band is the official marching band of Clemson University. Nationally recognized for its dynamic sound, precision marching, entertaining shows and famous Clemson spirit, the band performs before nearly one million fans each year. The Tiger Band Color Guard, Tiger Dancers and Tiger Twirlers are integral parts of Tiger Band, adding pageantry and excitement to each performance. In addition to regular performances at Clemson University home and away football games, Tiger Band has appeared in many televised events, including performances at a NASCAR Winston Cup race, Walt Disney World, the Gator Bowl, the Champ Sports Bowl, the Peach Bowl, the Citrus Bowl, the Hall Of Fame Bowl, the Independence Bowl and the Orange Bowl.
"Pass in Review" costs $20 (plus $5 shipping and handling) and proceeds will benefit the band scholarship program at Clemson. Send your check or money order payable to Clemson University Tiger Band Association (Sorry, we cannot accept credit card orders).
