2007 CAFLS Tailgate

This year's CAFLS Tailgate is scheduled for November 10, 2007 before the Wake Forest football game at the Fike Recreation Center.  Doors will open 4 hours prior to kick-off.  We will have departmental displays, a fun kid's corner and a great barbecue meal!  We are inviting Clemson University President James Barker, Provost Dori Helms and SC Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers to give comments to the CAFLS Alumni and guests in attendance.

The Red, White and Forever Blue College Tailgate Tour Hits Clemson Provided by National FFA Collegiate Programs

Are you ready to celebrate! It’s almost time to get together with your Clemson College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences (CAFLS) family! Get ready for food, football and fun at this educational and interactive tailgate. We have many new activities for you, your guest(s), your spouse and your children. Festivities are scheduled to begin 4 hours before kickoff of the Clemson vs. Wake Forest game.

What will be going on at the event?

• 10 sets of tailgating games including ladder ball, bag toss, and washers
• 3 flat screen gaming stations with Wii, PS2, and more
• Celebrity cook-offs with Foreman Grills
• Music, Games, and Raffles all day including iPods and more

What can we learn from the event?

• College students can network with other organization, industry and alumni.
• Alumni can learn what their former organizations are up to and volunteer.
• High school students can learn more about major fields of study and organizations they can join when they go to college at Clemson.
• Parents and teachers can see what opportunities the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences has to offer their children or students.

Youth Day at Death Valley

We are excited that “Youth Day at Death Valley 2007” will be held in conjunction with CAFLS Tailgate. This event has had an overwhelming response in the past and we look forward to having many of our 4H and FFA groups from all over the state of South Carolina join us! Tailgate Favorites

Along with the new activities, the Ag and Natural Resources Council will be hosting Ag Awareness Week again. Special commemorative t-shirts will be available with this year’s theme: “I was BARN to be a tiger!” to promote the new Barns, Barbecue and Bales of Cotton photo book available for purchase in this brochure. There will be comments from College and University administrators, the ANRC Kid’s Corner, door prizes, and the SC Farm Bureau Discussion Meet finals. Also, block football game seating is available with the application in this brochure.

Clemson Blue Cheese - The University's Ag Sales Center began producing Clemson Blue Cheese during the 1950's.  Our cheese has won a number of world-class ribbons and is known as one of the smoothest "blues" that exists.

Rice Krispy Treats - In the mid-1950's Clemson engineers and food scientists developed the process for creating puffed-rice cereals.

Fried Okra - About 80 percent of the okra grown in the world is the Clemson spineless okra.
