Festival iv workshops as an EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Ten workshops conducted by the full cast of the Shenandoah Shakespeare Express and their directors were scheduled throughout the week for college and high school classes. Another series of workshops was conducted by our Holt Lecturers, often in collaboration with the actors. Most of the workshops were held in the Bellamy Theatre of the Brooks Center. All were open to the public.

A festival telecourse was mounted in the spring semester by Clemson Telecampus. Now in its seventh year, the interactive TV course reaches high school teachers across the state from Spartanburg to Myrtle Beach and prepares them and their students to attend festival plays, lectures and workshops.

Shenandoah Shakespeare Express and the Holt Shakespeare Lecturers were also featured in an interview and performance on the state's public radio channel during the week of the festival.

Finally, the year's major festival events, including interviews with the participants, was filmed as a South Carolina Educational Television documentary for broadcast in schools. Curricular materials on the plays, lectures, themes and workshops were developed to accompany the film for school use.
