The Ninth International WAC Conference will be held May 29-31, 2008 in Austin, Texas.
The National WAC Conferences began in 1993 with a meeting co-hosted
by The Citadel: The Military College of South Carolina, the College
of Charleston, and Clemson University. This consortium hosted two
more biennial conferences in Charleston, after which the venues
moved to universities in New York, Indiana, Texas, and Missouri. In 2006, the conference returned to South Carolina. For more information
on past conferences visit the archive
of past WAC conferences.
Each conference
and host institution has drawn inspiration from previous ones;
we all are indebted to one another for the growth and evolution
of this conference, now in its eighth iteration. The 2004 WAC
Conference hosted by the University of Missouri-Columbia, in St.
Louis, focused on international perspectives, and in 2005 the
Writing Across the Curriculum Conference Advisory Board designated
that the 2006 Conference be named "The Eighth International Conference
on Writing Across the Curriculum" in recognition of our many international
colleagues and the growing importance of WAC in higher education
throughout the world.
